Rob Morache is the Chairman of Connect Ithaca LLC, a collaborative company which is focused on transforming the city of Ithaca into a more sustainable urban center by reducing automobile dependency and re-thinking transit and development strategies at a systems level. Their efforts include the exploration of new transit technologies, promoting car-free urban development strategies, and finding alternative ways of organizing existing resources, prioritizing mobility modes and financing transportation infrastructure. Presenting the Podcar City Ithaca conference is part of that larger effort.
Rob is an architectural designer and has taught design at the Syracuse University College of Visual and Performing Arts, and works as a consultant with a number of upstate New York architecture and development firms as a housing and community design specialist. He is not only involved with Connect Ithaca, but also involved in developing carbon neutral energy systems and green affordable housing strategies for both the rural and urban context.

THE PODCAR CITYTM Conference is an initiative of the Institute for Sustainable Transportation (IST) presented by Connect Ithaca, to gather major stakeholders, affected by today's transportation issues at all levels. The aim is to have an open and creative debate on what Podcars (Personal and Group Rapid Transit) are, what the vendors claim to be possible, what communities are looking for and what critics and supporters have to say. The conference will hold several seminars and work programs. The main theme is how Podcars can contribute to sustainable cities and regions. This is the first North American conference, in cooperation with Advanced Transit Association (ATRA). The 2007 conference held in Sweden can be seen here. |
Special welcome to: Politicians and authorities at all levels * Urban Planners * Real Estate Developers * Current and future producers of Podcar hard- and software * Investors * Researchers * NGOs * Software & Design Developers * Media * All other interested parties and stakeholders. |
