GETTING THERE, FROM NEW YORK CITY TO ITHACA.

 

  

 

Leaving the car traffic spaghetti in the New York City area, going north
west...

...the cars still dominate the roads...

...but the roads don´t dominate the landscape.

 

Ithaca (red) is situated some 300 km from New York City (yellow), not
so far from the Great Lakes and the Canada border ...

...in the beautiful "Finger lake" area, at the southern tip of the Cajuga lake.

 

ITHACA - ACADEMIC AND COSMOPOLITIC

The University is greatly influencing the town...

 

...its environment, its economy, its social and cultural life...


...not the least due to the fact, that half of the towns inhabitants are students from all over the world.

 

The atmosphere feels laid back, intellectual, innovative and colorful

The teachers and students of the University and other inhabitants are now involved...


...in plans to improve the transportation environment with a podcar system!
This was one of the reasons for the Ithaca hosting of the Podcar City 2 event.
 

Most of the Podcar City 2 activities took place in the fashionable
and comfortable Cornell Stadtler Hotel.
