Abstracts

The line capacity of podcars used as conventional PRT is determined by the average vehicle load and the safe headway requirements.

The safe headway increases with speed so that high-speed systems offer lower capacity unless we change something.

This presentation suggests a number of ways to increase capacity and speed for podcar systems by:

• traffic management
• ride-sharing
• headway requirements
• train formation
