A wide range of topics
The whole second day was even more packed with interesting presentations
than day 1. Podcars and ecology, podcars and economy, podcars
and energy,
architecture and town planning were among
the topics.

Eva Külper, Sweden spoke about podcars and town planning |
Gus Ayer, Orange County, gave the US west coast local government outlook |
Guala Luca, Italy/Abu Dahbi told about an initiative in the Middle east. |

One of the themes during the second day of the event, was
Networking at the municipal level.
A spectacular expression of this, was a video conference,
conducted by
Christer Lindström, where podcar supporters at the US
west coast
participated.


Swedish Municipalities at the forefront
The podcar/PRT interest in Swedish municipalities
is bubbling. Some have taken the lead

Joakim Fjälling IST, told about the KOMPASS initiative, a network of municipalities for podcars/PRT. Behind him Magnus Hunhammar who writes up november 7th, which is the date for a constituating meeting for the network. |
The delegates at the Podcar City event were mainly from the authorities and business fields. One among the representatives from the "3rd force", the NGO:s and the civil society etc was Jacob Robert from Ithaca NY US |
Conclusions
The Concluding plenary with a panel discussion was introduced by Arne Kaijser,
professor in the History of Technology, at the Royal Technical University in Stockholm
Professor Arne Kaijser

Arne gave a broad and highly interesting and relevant overview of earlier transportation
paradigms, the circumstances for their introduction and the transformations
involved.
He ended with the remark that maybe this conference is a start for a new transportation
paradigm.
Panel discussion

The participants were rather unanimous about the attitude that we must now
move from sounds to things. All is at
hand for podcar pilot tracks!
